The front end of my bmw local runaround has developed a funny wobble.

Just had both my front wheels balanced today, but the funny wobble persists.
Had my wheel alignment done only a month ago.
Everything was within tolerance.

Here's the discription.

Drives great in a straight line.
Drives great in a curve.
Brakes nice and straight.

The wobble comes when I correct for crosswind at highway speed.
Just the slightest turn off center and the wobble get's going.
It wobbles when I correct either way, left or right.

And the frustrating part is, it stops almost immediatly when the steering wheel levels up again.

Talk about a funny wobble.

Found the problem after I inspected everything yesterday.

Recently put on 4 new tires about 20.000 km ago.
And when the funny wobble started I didn't inspect them thoroughly enough.

The outside of the front 2 tires had a little more wear then the inside. So the initial balance when new was out of spec after a little use.

So previously I made the switch front to back and had the wheels rebalanced.
Funny wobble persisted as stated in my first post.

However I experimented with a little quartz sand in the back for a silky smooth ride, not much just about 30 gram. Off course I forgot to mention this to the tire guy.

So off the back to front tires went again. The sand was removed and tires rebalanced again.

Result was a smooth ride in all circumstances.

Lessons learned:
1) When wobbles emerge, inspect things thoroughly.
2) High speed vehicles needs often tire balancing.
3) Loose weight "dynamic balancing" is great, but only for non steering wheels.
