Blue WPL C54 80 Series Build (1 Viewer)

Got this cheap RC WPL C54 80 Series Land Cruiser kit for Christmas and have been putting it together slowly. The detail is great and it drives really nicely too. Got the KM version with metal axles, 2-speed transmission, a sound kit and lights!


I chose 8R3 the Toyota Pacific Blue Metallic but it ended up being way darker than I expected. Still looks great so I rolled with it.

Went with a textured truck bedliner finish on the armor parts:

I made a video of it's first time on the rocks. Turn up the sound to hear the diesel engine rattle away!

Yes that's me. I was into RCs big time as a kid and was on RCC all the time when it was a brand new site. I caught the bug to get back in recently with all the totally awesome scale and crawler stuff available.

That was a park off Ken Caryl but I don't recommend going there I got a talking to by a ranger as RCs are banned in Jeffco parks

I got my RC4WD tires and some cheap alloy beadlocks and tossed them on. I like the wheels but I think I'm going to try and track down some silver hardware to go with it. It showed silver screws in the photo but it came with black ones, oh well. They were cheap.

The tires are great, but they appear to be the C14/C24 size which is just a hair smaller than the tires the C54 kit comes with. They are the same tread pattern style, but noticeably softer and grippier. I wrapped the wheels with solder to bring them up to the weight of the WPL wheels with WPL wheel weights.

It was RC4WDs 20th anniversary and they sent the most infuriating micro-puzzle with my tires. Seriously, it was so aggravating because the pieces are so small and the picture is just a big reddish colored smattering. Didn't stop me from finishing it though lol! They sent along some cool decals too.

Didn't like those wheels so I got some different aluminum beadlocks.

I like the new wheels better. That's a great looking 80 series something I would like to add to my small collection.
