Here's the deal--on June 13th I was rearended in Chris' blue '88 FJ62. After getting the runaround by the at fault insurance company for the last two months, they have totalled the truck. :crybaby:

My question to y'all is about buying the salvage on it. Would anyone be interested in this truck if we bought it back? I just can't stand to let it go to a salvage yard if there is someone here that could use it.

She took a very hard hit to the driver side rear. The tailgate is crunched beyond repair. The liftgate was hit, but not as extreme. The back quarter panel is crunched. The axle was pushed forward and the suspension tweaked.

The good is that the rest of the body is good. The engine has 360,000 miles. Everything was running as it should until the wreck. Lots of good salvageable parts or if someone wanted to replace/repair the broken stuff they would a good truck or a beater for wheeling. I don't have the time or desire to part it out so it would have to go as a unit. She would have to be trailered--she does drive so it would get on a trailer with no effort.

I have to check on the salvage price, but I won't do that until I know if there is interest in it. I also don't know if we would get the blue title back or if they would give it a salvage title.

Post up with your thoughts, or pm me direct if you are interested. I would feel lots better about this if the truck could live on for someone else!!!

I will post up pictures later!!!!

Yes pictures please but there is interest.

I will post pictures soon. I am at work right now so it will be later tonight. Thanks for helping save my truck from the salvage yard!!!

You have first chance at her, so pm me after the pictures are posted if you are still interested.

Damn. Sorry to hear about the crash. I hope you're doin okay.

I am still sore from the whiplash and I lost a damn good truck, but things will be okay one day!!!

Have you got an idea on how much you want for the whole truck? Give me a call on my cell 972 977 7524. Hope you are feeling better I know from personal experience how bad it is to lose a truck that way.

If no one down there wants it, there are a couple of guys in the Tulsa area that might want it. Let me know a price if all the Dallas deals fall through.

Thanks

i might be interested in a few parts as well. how are the wipers, driver's seat, and seatbelts? front belts, that is. and i'll ask my dad, as he has a 62, and might use some things as well.

I would be interested in the wiper control arms (The linkage that connects the wipers and not the wiper assembly) as one of mine has lost the retainer ring.

To all those that need parts--I am selling this as a complete, slightly crunched vehicle. With three kids and one really BIG KID (who now wants a troopie since I wrecked his truck) and working 72 hours a week, I don't really have the time to part her out, although it looks like the potential for good money is there. If the person that purchases it wants to part it out, I am sure he will see the interest in parts both here on Mud, and on the email list. Be patient, and hopefully you can get your desires fulfilled soon.

Have a great day!! I am off to work for my 10th straight day of twelve hour shifts. Last time I looked, I had twelve more days to go before I get a day off.:eek:

MArde glad to hear you are OK......shame about the rig.

Look forward to wheeling with yawl again.

Glad yall are ok.

I just sold a solid FJ62 with a blown tranny for $1k. I delivered it 580 miles for an extra $500, not worth the trouble if you just looked at the numbers. I did it to help a buddy, and to keep a 62 on the road.

You can part it out for around $3K, but it will take 2 years.

62's are dropping left and right because the tyranny's are so expensive to rebuild. There's a ton on the part out forum, making the parts worth less. Grey interior parts are easy to get right now, also making them worth less.

If you have room to stash it, it will be worth something in 10 years.
