Hello,
Has anyone run into a problem where the first position of the blower switch doesn't push any air at all? position 2, 3 and 4 work fine. I replaced the switch but that didn't fix it.
Thanks,
Doug

Hello,

Looks like the rotor needs a cleanup. The motor is rather easy to disassemble.

The brushes may need to be replaced as well.

Make sure you have some gaffer's tape for the brushes, whether you replace them or not.

You should also check the fan switch. Dirt builds up on it over time, disrupting electric continuity, especially in the lower speed settings. Clean it using contact cleaner, then put some WD-40 or a similar lubricant.

Hope this helps.

I don't see one of those but I do see a Resistor, Heater Blower 12V 87138-90K00. Discontinued at most places but found on on eBay. I'll give that a try.
Thanks,
Doug
I said rheostat when I should have said resistor. (I'm a mechanical dufus). If I remember correctly, my resistor was behind the glovebox and was in bad condition. Once it was replaced I regained all of my fan speeds.

Most likely the heater RESISTOR. Located inside squirrel fan housing. This can be purchased as a separate part. Looks like this photo. I have also been able to replace the damaged part by using resistor wire.
