I have two cases, one for complete brake pressure bleed caps, the other for complete coolant pressure test caps. Both cases are WAY to large. I want to make my own wooden cases that have a much smaller foot print to put these tools in them. Then keep them in my service truck.

Has anyone made boxes to hold tools and are petroleum resistant? I have some used maple flooring I could make the boxes out of. Just need the hinges and latches. I was thinking of buying a router and dove tail routing the edges of the sides of the box and then pushing them into the bottoms.

Anyone done this before? Elmers glue the best in this case?

I knew a guy that spent probably 40 hours making a box for a router. Complete waste of time and the box is every bit as big as a blow molded case, if not bigger. It was a work of art though.

I'm a handyman with a truck full of tools. A big truck, and a lot of tools. If I need a box, I look for the smallest hand-tool box that the stuff will fit in, usually a plastic tote box from a hardware store.

Spike,

Yea, not interested in decorative box. Of course, another way, is a sheet metal brake/sheets and rivet gun. Or find a mill, and just router out the center. I was actually thinking of building my own home made cnc router mill. This would be a perfect case of making something like this from a solid chunk of wood. I could even router out the slots for the tools :)
