Thanks Keith, et al, for hosting the open forum last night with Dan and Colleen from the BLM! It was inspiring to see such a good turnout for this type of event!

And a big thanks to Dan and Colleen for giving up a night with their families to help us all better understand the BLM as it relates to our recreational enjoyment of the wild lands they oversee!

It was nice to see such a good turnout, thanks to everyone who came, was nice to meet some new people.

a bunch of cruiserheads in one place and we didn't talk cruisers???... scary..

thanks for inviting the BLM it was informative and positive. Hopefully it will lead to good things.

Sorry I had to leave early Fallon Dan and I had some parts swapping to do and he had a drive home,

ohh and for the first time in 3 years I paid Mike dues before July... :D:D:D

I really like your club, thanks for letting me join you for an evening, and i look forward to trying to get out on the trail with some of you guys and be back to the meetings when i can spare the gas money (im the young guy that was in camo)

Did you drive back to Quincy last night? Next time, shoot me a PM in advance. I often get comp'd rooms at the Peppermill and/or Harrah's. I bet I could figure out a way to pass one along to you.

Really good meeting you & Traci last night. As clean as my rig is, I am so jealous of your V8!

Richard

yes Traci and I hit In-N-Out then Walmart and drove back to Quincy that night and got back about 11-11:30.
Thanks for the offer and ill definitly remember that for the next meeting i go to! I dont think im going to make it to the next one as im crashing a Land Rover Club meeting down in the bay area with Machinist, Traci and some other Cruiser heads the weekend before and will be emptying the gas tank

thanks for sharing your rig, its way awesome! i already am schemeing of a way to rig in a kill switch as clever as yours. I think i can run a the switch to my Fuel Pump as its an external one for the throttle body and just splice into the power cable. i just need to find a switch now.

oh, and go for the v8 its way fun! i can go "fast!" though it turns out my front oil leak meant i was a quart and a hlaf low on oil for the drive... also after fixing the wiring on my transmission im starting to get back to the 14-16MPG :clap:which is a plus just from the 2Fs!

I was kinda bummed I didnt get to hang around and check everyone's cruisers out. It was definitely awesome to see the parking lot full of them. Did see Walkers, Big Cruisers and RMBlaires. I was not sure who owned the white one that parked in front of me but mine is pretty easy to spot as I have the 80s plates with FJ6TY on them.

By the way, how has the 80 with the IH8MUD plates?

I don't remember exactly where you mentioned you were from but I remember you saying this club was the closest. Did you mean closest TLCA/Toyota club, or closest 4x4 club period? If you can't always make it here you may be able to find something closer to home to save some $ on gas.

I feel you on those gas prices, we're getting raped by the pump again! I just filled up last night at $4.00/gal OUCH! :crybaby:
Just a couple weeks ago it was getting down closer to $3, wha happen?

the 60 lineup out front was awesome! somehow snuck in Between Ole Yeller and that sprung over blue 60 :D

Greg, Y U NO TXT BACK?! :hillbilly:

I am from Quincy California and this is the closest feasible TLCA club. the v8 just likes to suck gas right now. my TBI needs a rebuild and probably a new fuel regulator because im getting 10-12 mpg instead of the 16 that i did before my TBI went to hell. i still am pushing 16 on freeway but then it goes down when im back in town and using 4wd.

and ya 3.96 today! 75 bucks to fill the tank again! i liked it better when it was 3 bucks. i guess an extended range tank is next so i can put off filing up for longer periods of time lol

Yep you are out there alright! Beautiful country though, I almost went to college there.

The closest Cali 4x4 club I've had any contact with is the Black Sheep 4x4 Club in Redding. I had a friend who was both a member of their club and my old club up in Tahoe.
Though looking at a map that may not help you much because it looks like that by road Redding is even further than Reno from you.
There's also the High Lake Trekkers in Paradise, they're a bit closer to you.
Either one of those might wheel somewhere in your neighborhood on occasion.
Both club's contact info is on the Cal 4 Wheel site.

Honestly pretty much any 4x4 club that you can get to and wheel with is good. Just making sure you don't feel you can only join a "Toyota" club. I've seen Toys in "Jeep" clubs, Hummers in "Rover" clubs, Chevy's in "Toyota" clubs... you get the picture.

Truth be told, they're all just 4x4 enthusiast clubs.

The bottom line is that you get with like minded people, and just get out wheeling! :steer:

When you can't make it out here, there just might be things happening somewhat closer to you.

yep, im currently attending the college out here and all my favorite trails are snowed in except for a few so i do some small runs here and there but nothing really intense like one of the trails up by Bucks Lake.

as for joining clubs, id like to support TLCA before a jeep club if you know what i mean ;) and im an honorary member of a Land Rover club down in the bay area because of a friend that owns a RR Discovery with all the fun stuff. in fact Machinist in the 60 series section of this forum is joining me at the Land Rover club meeting the first saturday of next month down in Hollister BLM.

I understand completely, that's why I came to the meeting as well.
I was not trying to discourage you in any way. Just putting out some suggestions to save a fellow wheeler some gas $.

i drive a gas hog so gas is gonna kill me anyway from :steer: haha i just like being around cruiser guys because its so like minded because all i hear from my friends is "jeep..." or "Ford..." etc and its just a cruiser thing, jeepers wont understand :grinpimp:

its nice to hang around with guys that have cruisers and understand the quirks that make them awesome instead of "your truck is slow, something is wrong with the gearing you need to fix that cause im a professional" that line always cracks me up because even with the 350 V8 Bessie is still slow off the line.

"your truck is slow, something is wrong with the gearing you need to fix that cause im a professional"
You are so right on that one!

Everybody, had jeeps in my last club, except for a couple Fords. I was the only Toy guy.

It'll be nice to hang with cruiser heads, it'll be new for me.
