I'm SO EXCITED to report that two representatives from the BLM agreed to do an informational q and a at our next meeting 2/12/2013.
We voted that the club will provide pizza and refreshments for the occasion.
PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND!!
We'd love to have a good audience for them to speak to!!

Also, lets try and keep this kinda limited to BBCNN members and those associated w/ our club.
Reason being, we don't want these folks to be ambushed by a bunch of inflamed wheelers that we don't really know. This is not that kind of forum.

In the mean time, consider things you all might like to ask them in this more intimate setting re. Land use and actions.

Great news Keith! Congrats! On my calendar.

Awesome Dan!
Itd be great to have you there!
At the work shop Mark and I went to, these folks OFFERED the time. I'm super stoked that they are making the time to do this for us.
I'm really wanting to know about the process of trail designation and or closure and understanding what they are faced with. Also, what are ways that WE can help and WORK WITH THEM and not AGAINST them.

BTW, we have incorporated a "land use" segment in our meetings agenda monthly and we discuss the topic, whats going on and any ideas for efforts. Which reminds me...I also need to ask about our adopt a trail status of eldorado canyon....:hmm:

You're absolutely welcome and we'd love to meet you. Come on up and check is out.
The only reason I bring up the "inflamed wheelers" is because land use is a very tender topic, as you may know, and we just don't want people coming into this meeting amped up for a fight w/ the BLM people.

Hope to see you!

Keith

Yup, agree with Chicago, and these guys are coming under their own power. We want to be sure that we present ourselves as a group that is looking to work with them, not berate them. Working on the brakes this weekend so as long as nothing comes up I will be there, member fees are $20 for the year correct?!

exactly!!
Yes, club dues are 20 bucks.

Hello all. Should be a good meeting in Feb. hope all of us can be there.

Was hoping to get out to Eldorado and take some pictures of things that we could do as a club to help the trail. The folks at BLM are aware that it is a heavliy used trail
so they are aware it could use some help. I say that because we don't want to raise any red flags but stuff any potential closre issues before they can raise their ugly heads. Soooo...this Saturday is too cold at 39 degrees (my crusier is snowed in in my lower garage anyway)and I am out of town for the next wknd(New Orleans baby) but the 2nd or the 9th are looking good. If anyone would like to go just post up your preference. And lets hope this freezer turns off.

From what I have been reading it looks like we are going to have a warming trend while the storms hit the northern states. We will get up to the 50s next week one or two days and be in the mid to high 40s the rest of the time.

So when we "help" with these trails is there a special protocol that we need to abide by, steel toed boots and helmets and that kind of stuff or can we just help?

As far as I know, we need to get the "blessing" from the BLM, get them out there or bring to them potential issues and maintainence and work w/ them for improvements.
Mark and I filed a request to adopt this trail w the BLM at the last round of workshops.
That's the first step.

The meetings are held in the back room of Round table Pizza,
185 Damonte Ranch Parkway, Reno. It does indeed share a parking lot with Walmart. There is an exit for Damonte R. Parkway. Hope to see you there.

Greg?:whoops:
