Blinking red security light and car doesnt start

So Ive narrowed the car not starting. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt. The battery cranks but it doesnt turn on. The security light in the middle of the dash board flashes. I have used both key fobs and changed the batteries to both keys. Im stumped.

What do you mean by the battery cranks? will the engine turn over? its a push button start system, correct?
