Yup started dumping white smoke out of the tail pipe lastnight !!!!

195K miles ......not bad I guess.

Gives me the chance to go throught the top of the motor and clean things up.

Anyone know a good shop for porting in So Cal. ?

whoah!

feeling for ya! good luck with it all!

that's the one thing I don't wanna think about... I'd do it myself, but that's a big job!

Sorry to hear that!

I would run some more tests before ripping into it.

Start with a compression test.

Running rough, tons of steam coming from the tail pipe, and that sweet smell of coolant coming from the tail pipe !!!!!!

After I finish mine - I'll be all set up to do anyone elses !! Who is ready ?

Maybe I'll set up the garage for 80 series headgasket replacement jobs

You should seek help Skim... Maybe talk to someone with years of Toyota experence and works for Toyota before you rip into her...

Ha ha, better you then me... All I had to do was drop a bat in mine last weekend and she ran like a champ, sorry we didn't catch up.

Ya AMMO you know anyone ?..........

Dude next time give us a heads up a head of time!! We could have gone wheelin

Just got back from Calico, where I'd heard an ugly rumor about your HG.

Sorry to hear that it's true.

Well, at least once it's fixed, your good for another 100K on the motor. And yeah, I may call on your expertise someday.

BTW, we missed you out at the dust bowl this weekend!

HE is land cruiser specialtlis .

For those who don't know I was bustin Skim's balls as he works for Toyota Corp, and from what i've seen knows a thing or three about his rigs...

Skim, I guess Todd did fill you in that I was on my way back... jerk.

I dont know it takes alot of tallent to do a toyota F head, headgasket..... second year highschool autoshop comes to mind... :D :D :D :D

I dont know where you are at but if after you dye the head and check it for straightness, if it needs any work there is a small shop up in Yucipia that is fair and honest..

Hopefully it just blew like mine at the back of #6 and the head is perfect.... good luck..

Thanks guys. I think the head will be fine (knock on wood) when it started dumping steam out of the tailpipe the temp gauge was still on cold. I had driven the 80 about 4 blocks from a cold start.

Let the wrenchin begin.

I just did my HG not too long ago and a buddy who owns an auto parts store uses a real good machine shop, don't have the info handy but I can get it for you. They did a full valve grind, milling etc for $350. The shop is in south Orange County so it is a bit of a drive for you but I will get it of you need it. Good luck.

Here is the info. They may charge a different price though because I may have gotten the bro discount through my buddys shop but I can't imagine it would be that different if any. I got all gaskets and seals before I pulled the head from cdan so had them use the OEM valve seals and supplied them with the head. They may be able to secure some themselves.

Don't forget to clean all the carbon off the pistons and tops of the cylinders, just make sure not to let any of it to get down in the water galleys or scratch the cylinder walls. ;)

Good luck.

Injectors are at RC Engineering gettin cleaned up and the head will be done soon.

Head is back, injectors are back, parts are in........time to go back together.
