Blew the short heater hose that runs from the thermostat housing to the hardline that runs down the pass side of the head on my way to work this morning. Luckily I was 2 blocks from an Oreillys, so I got the new hose and 2 gallons of 50/50 antifreeze (I have 3 gallons of blended antifreeze at home too, dammit). Replaced the hose and antifreeze, started the truck, and it is still steaming. It was 10 degrees this morning, and I wasnt leaking any new antifreeze, and my temp gauge looks fine.

I thinks it was just steaming off what was blown all over the block. It steamed less and less by the time I got here to work. The rad is still full, and there is no water in the oil.

What so you guys think? Should I look at anythng else? Ive got 207K on it, and I would like to get another 50K out of it if possible.

Thanks, Hodag

If the temp gauge is normal, I would just see if it is exess coolant steaming off before doing other things.

Some vehicles cooling systems need to be elevated.

I dont know about the land cruiser but some like the hondas need to have the front end elevated as high as possible to release any trapped air in the cooling system. what about the 60 series cruisers?

Harry ;)

I agree with cabron's opinion.
Wait until excess coolant will steam off then check again.

Oh, Min Seok

Thanks guys, its been a week and no more steam. Temp gauge stays normal, no loss of antifreeze anywhere else. Guess its OK for now.
