Blasting, painting parts

I've finally upgraded my cabinet blaster to a level where it works all the time. I blasted an idler pulley bracket, wiped it down with wax &grease remover, then sprayed on SEM self-etch primer. After that, I did two coats of Krylon. Three days later now and the paint scrapes off pretty easy with any metal tool.
Not sure where I went wrong.
Also curious if it might be cheaper in the end to mix and spray with HVLP set-up that I have.
