Hi all,
I am having much difficulty getting a leak to stop from the output yoke (flange) to the rear driveshaft output from the the transfercase. I have replaced the yoke/flange as the old one had a grove worn in it and after attempting a sleave to fix the issue it still leaks. I probably did not need the new yoke now that i discovered that it still leaks with the toyota style seal and the new yoke. Does anyone know if the proper seal would be any different then the ones i am getting here that measure the same ID? My mechanic is stumped as to why it would be leaking and is ready to give up on it.

I have had it taken apart 5 times and put back together with what appears to be the proper seal and it still spits gear oil everywhere when rotating. I recently had a transmission job done and the old seal that was in there was incorrect (according to my mechanic) and he threw it away. The new seals we are getting locally that should fit stll leak. Any thoughts guys? Is the seal "special" in any way for that model and do i need to make sure it is a factory seal for my 1987 BJ74 13BT A440 Transmission?

Are you using purely aftermarket seals or have you tried the OEM Toyota seals? I just redid my split case with OEM seals and I have had no leaks with either output shafts

This should be the part number for the OEM seal. 90311-48010

Hey Thanks,
I found that seal and ordered it. I hope it cures my small issue, but a real pain in the but.

Yeah, I have had mixed luck with aftermarket seals, with the exception of the Marlin HD stuff. At least that is easy to get to, I had a brand new seal fail for my input shaft on my H55, and the only way to get to it is with the trasmission dropped, and the only way I could tell it was leaking was attached to the truck and spinning:doh:

Is the rear output bearing ok?
Is the rear output straight?

I would be checking for run-out on that rear output.
