BJ74 oil pressure meter

Took attention on my oil pressure meter indications...
If engine temp is low - oil pressure is OK
If engine temp goes hot - oil pressure drops...

But on 2000 rpm - oil pressure is OK

Something wrong with oil pump or with pressure meter/gauge?

Only way to know for sure is to hook up a mechanical gauge and check.

With that said my stock oil pressure gauge is at the L when its at operating temp. Years ago (like 14 or more) I checked it with a mechanical gauge and it was 30 or 35 psi hot idle and if memory serves the stock gauge was down around the L at that time as well. Compression check and mechanical oil pressure check are on the agenda this fall at some point to see how things are, 14-15 years later.

This is normal. When oil gets hot it thins out and the oil pressure drops.

And the factory gauge sucks at the best of times!

The OEM oil pressure gauges are notoriously bad. Installing a good quality aftermarket gauge would be my recommendation.
