First noticed this noise driving down main street Moab after a day of wheeling and then returning to town on the highway for an hour. Noise is only noticeable up to about 30mph before the drone of tires and engine drown it out. Can not pin point where its coming from although I can hear it better with the windows up, makes no difference if engine is running or not, transmission in gear or not, clutch depressed or not, brakes applied or not, front hubs locked or not. My first guess is a wheel bearing as it seems to be consistent with the revolution of the tires but I dont feel any movement when I tested for movement and the wheel bearings have less then 30,000 miles on them. Yes I wheel it and have 35" tires and wheel spacers which lead to premature wheel bearing wear but I want to make sure I am not over looking something before I tear open the hubs. Oh and I did drive it home and then to work since first hearing it, about 1500 miles with minimal increase in noise and no change in handling.

Please excuse the crappy video...... Any thoughts??

Not sure what exactly the noise is? So many in the video lol Checked your unis and shafts etc? I had a ting ting ting noise most notiable at lower speeds and was dependent on road speed. Pulled my drive shafts front and rear, pinion nuts at both ends were a little loose and put in new drive shafts, noise gone.

It is the rhythmic squeaking / rubbing noise that you can hear when the engine is turned off. Front driveshaft is a brand new Double Cardan and noise is not effected by hubs being locked vs unlocked or 2WD vs 4WD so I pretty much ruled that out. But thanks for the suggestion.

Are your brakes good? Could be one corner not working. Doesn't sound like a wheel bearing to me.

Funny you say that Rosco. I unknowingly had my e-brake cable stick on me while in Moab. Not sure how long I drove around with the brake dragging on just one side. I'll pull the drums off when I get home in a few days and report back. Thanks
