I am in need of new headlights and saw an add on MUD for "roundeyes". The claim to be a straight accross replacement. I am assuming my headlight bulbs are 24v. The bulbs look like the are a halogen. My question is are there a lot of different size head lights in Landcruisers or are they all similar in daiameter? Has anyone seen or know where to get a replacement 24v halogen headlight bulb?

Okay, I got off my ass and did a little thread searching. They are 24v and I can probably track a set of bulbs locly but I still want to repace the bodys with something a little more modern.

You should be able to find some Hella or Bosch 7" round headlights in almost any parts store for about $100. If you already have halogen lights in yours, you should be able to use your existing H4 bulbs that are 24v. If you need bulbs, p/n are GE-13342 or Osram 64196 - and shop around as the price can vary dramatically.
The lenses will then shine towards the curb as opposed to oncoming traffic. Just confirm that the lenses are SAE stamped (my Bosch lenses were not, even though they are the correct beam pattern)

The part number for the Hella's is 70472. They are a direct fit and are DOT stamped. They're what I put in my BJ74.

Buy extra 24v as all stores do not carry stock. I was even pulled over by a cop and luckily he belivieved my story and heavens forbid he could have me gone in for a vehicle inspection and who knows what can of worms that could have opened.

The Beemers had the smaller 4.5 inch rounds (x 4), not the sevens (x 2) of the 70 series.

Odd, there must have been at least one BMW model with the proper size headlights because I have two of them on my rig now. I bought them to get rid of the JDM lens problem. Perhaps the the older 320's?

The 2002 from the early 70's had the two 7" lights (one each side). I believe there was another model from the same era which had the two large lights with a set of smaller ones just inboard of those. I don't recall the model. I think the 320's had the four smaller lights. But maybe not? To the best of my knowledge, everything that was imported into NA subsequent to the 320 had some version of the four small lights. Even the current four rounders with the HID have the small lights. Except for the models with not round lights like the 840 and its ilk and the Z series, etc.

all round headlights in land cruisers are 7"'s from the 40 to the 70 series. make sure to keep your headlight ring as it has a clamp on the headlight. makes it easier to adjust the light focus.
i use a sealed sylvania silverstar. nice and water proof. so you dont get the water in your lenses.:D
