my BJ74 came with a bad oil pressure gauge. In fact, the PO's post regarding it is still on Mud. Anyway, I have replaced the sending unit and the gauge... and it still doesn't work.

When I pulled the old gauge out, it was melted.

If I pull the sending unit wire off, I do not measure a short to ground. So, I am assuming the wire from the cluster to the (new) sender is fine.

Questions:
what is the resistor for on the back of the gauge cluster?
What resistance should I measure at the sending unit?
What else can I check?

thanks!

Mine did something similar, I ended up not using the inaccurate 20 year old gauge and using an isspro mechanical oil pressure gauge instead... It's awesome to know the actual PSI of your oil pressure, and I'm not relying on some electrical sender to "WORK" which after 20 years some have discovered it's quite common they don't..... WORK that is
