Hi all. I imported a 1987 JDM BJ74 from Canada about 3 months ago, and this site has been an awesome resource thus far. The PO(s) of this cruiser seem to have neglected it in more ways than one, and I've been trying to give this beauty the love she deserves.
The other day I went to start the cruiser, heard a buzzing noise, and discovered that the positive post on my grounding battery had been reduced to a pool of metal.
It seems the terminal was loose (due to a stripped bolt) and arcing occurred. I replaced the battery, have 24V and working headlights, blower motor, etc., but no starter. When I try the ignition there is no starter engagement, click, or anything.
The vehicle has a PlantDrive vegi oil kit, and the wiring coming off the positive post is kind of a mess. I searched for a fusible link, but I believe it's been hacked out of the system. Fuses look good. I will test my starter tomorrow and report back.
Has anyone been in my predicament? Any useful links for a relative newbie? Where can I find fusible links to prevent another meltdown?

-Daniel
