BJ73rear wheel bearing fail diff damage,fix replace?

G'day gents. I purchased a BJ73 1985 back in Feb did the front wheelbearings disk etc but hadn't got around to the rear yet. Car only is driven 2 times a month for offroad only. Short story is left rear bearing failed and entire wheel hub assy migrated from the car. Stub axle on diff has some scoring and destyoyed the hub nut ans spacer. Bearing was almost non existent. Looks like gear oil had been leaking into the brake drum. SHould have done all bearings when i bought the rig........

Need some advice on if i can get away with new bearings, seals 3 off and lock nut washer. If so can anyone reccomend where to purchase I am in Melbourne Australia.

Do i need to get a new diff. The current one is full floating. Can i get one from FJ40 or FJ60 which would be a better option. ANyone got one for sale?

Depending on how much damage has been done to the stub axle you might be able to get it repaired, but it would have to got to a machine shop probably.
The 40 axles are narrower and the 60s are wider so you can't swap them in easy
If the bearing inner races aren't loose on the stub axle you may only have to repair the thread, won't have to come out then

Is the frame and spring the same width or if I change the model of diff I will need to cut off and reweld the spring perch? For now I might take the old bearings from the right side bolt the hub up to the damaged side see if there is any play between the inner race and stub axle. Anyone have a figure on what would be acceptable? Or minimum dimension of the stub axle.

Thanks for the info about a potential repair I will ask around some machine shops.

The spring mounts on the axle are set wider apart for the 60 opposite for 40s. I thinks it's the long side that has the difference.
The inner bearing race should not be able to wiggle at all on the stub axle. I doubt you be able to feel it if you mounted the other hub to it but. Best way would be to try the bearings by themselves on the axle.
Not about min measurements for the axle, might be in the w/shop manual. There is a link for them to download somewhere on the forum
