Hi Dave and welcome to the forum.

Here is how I would do it.
Do a suspension lift, most of the aussie kits will get you 2-3 inches above standard height.
This will enable you to run 33 or maybe 34 inch tyres without spacers or a body lift and it will keep you legal in most states(NSW are about to bring a 2in max law)

The other reason not to run 35 is that the BJ73 will be struggling to turn them ,even with a turbo.
To correct that,it would need regearing the diffs or the t/case.

I think you will find that keeping it simple will still get you 98% or more of the places the big boys go without a $7K price tag.
Good supple suspension that can flex over obstacles and allow lots of travel are the most important requirements.

When I did the lift on my 73 series ,it was already sagging at least 2 inches.
So when the new springs lifted it 2 1/2inches above normal + the sag and adding the 33 on the same day,I got 5 inches above what it was.

Good luck with the Army training;)

choose your springs carefully, I used the s***ty ( in my opinion ) OME springs... now my truck is 2.5 inches taller in the rear than the front. GAY. What do they think we are going to haul in the rear, a fuc***g elephant?

Easy to fix!!

Put the OME GS1s in the front, and make sure that you don't have A or + springs at the rear and B or - springs in the front.

On my BJ74, I used CS017RAs in the front (moved the mount forward) and CS017RBs in the rear for a nearly level truck that rides great. The A springs have about 25mm more arch vs the B springs.

It also seems that many people use the longer shackles in the rear and the shorter ones in the front. Use the longer ones at both ends for a better result.

To me, at least, I really like the OME springs. It's really all about the installation and the attention to details that will make your truck sit properly.

well you have a good point there. however to those of us that trust in buying a complete purpose built kit by a reputable company such as OME it would be nice for them to EXPLAIN the results. myself I think a level truck has been lifted properly. I've got a full toolbox and other goodies in mine and the way it sits is ridiculous. not to mention the rear shocks are a couple inches too short. also the original springs I was sent had the truck sitting lopsided as well with one side of my truck a full 1.5" lower than the other. I complained and rallied until they agreed to ship me another rear spring so that both rears were identical. they told me it must be unique to my truck to need the two rears the same. ???. my truck was bone stock AKA the same as all the others out there give or take a mm.

anyways if ur buying suspension take the advice above and piece together your kit. unless you haul bags of concrete everyday.

Im wondering if youve got some heavy duty 60 series springs in the rear. They are the same as a 73 series but the 60 is heavier in the rear and if they are HD ,then that will magnify the problem

that crossed my mind however they were confirmed to be the correct spring for my requested application - heavies in front, mediums in rear... ?

thanks for the info guys, verry helpfull,
i think im gonna get myself some 60 series diffs and ste them up for soa, that way i will have more stability than if i kept the 73 diffs, and also the trucks my daily d, so i can get the other diffs ready with perches and high steer knuckles, then do the switch on weekend! :D
then hopfuly i will be able to figure out the whole wrap bar situation, it shud be ok for a week or too if i take dont go 4x4ing? riggght? .....

thanks again.Dave:cheers:
