I am posting about a BJ70 I recently got from a wreckers, so it has not run for a few years. It sounds like Rosco knows a fair bit about the EDIC, and I'm wondering if that is where my problem lies. The engine starts fine, but then idles at high revs (I'm not sure how high exactly, as the gauge is not working, the speedo and other gauges are working). I tried adjusting the screw to push the rod more towards the stop position, to hopefully lower the revs, but this just makes the revs drop until it stalls.
When put into gear and the clutch released, the revs drop a bit to a more normal idle level, but then applying the accelerator (which works via a venturi, which I don't know much about) does not increase the revs much. Holding the accelerator pedal flat to the floor, slowly the revs build up over time.
Also, when I turned the key to the off position, the engine did not cut out straight away, but the revs dropped and the engine stopped over 10 seconds or more.
Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks.

Long shot guess, but assuming its a 3B... Fuel diaphragm? Might be over fuelling. PM Moosecruiser, he has changed a few on his BJ60 and sounds like it might be similar symptoms...

No , does not sound like a fuel diaphragm issue but an easy test is remove the two lines connected to the venturi and blow if it holds pressure the the diaphragm is good if you can blow through and feel it come out then the Venturi is bad . Also put a smell pair of hose clamps on these hoses both top and bottom it is also a possibility when one of the hoses leak or fall off of the same issue .
Cheers

These symptoms are identical to what happens on a 3B when one of the two hoses mentioned by MooseCruiser connecting the Venturi to the diaphragm on the Injection Pump is not connected. That is easy to test and inspect visually.

You dont ajust the idle with the edit motor rod, the screw is near where the throtle cable is conected to the butterfly, also look at the idle up for the air con, it may be bent or stuck or a the throtle cable is stickey or miss ajusted.
