Hi, I went through some of the electrical system on my new(to me!) 1983 BJ42 24volt and discovered that the two thicker wires(black/orange & black) that goes into the relay on the drivers side front fender(just behind the headlight) are disconnected. The two thinner ones (black/white & black/red) are still hooked up.

It starts easily and runs just fine, but what is it that I´m missing? And is this the Glow plug relay? It looks just like one of those that i got out of a 1981 HJ60.

I don't have my FSM s handy. But if your 83 bj42 is the same as my 84 bj60 for glow plugs then you have the superglow system. You could have the secondary glow relay deactivated.

put a meter on the glow plug busbar, turn the key , see what you get. are there two relays'??

is there a timer working in your truck? I cut out my timer and went manual only using the high voltage relay. how are you set up?

hope that helps
