I have a 79 BJ40 with a B engine, and will be upgrading the brakes to disks all around. I purchased a 1993 toyota pickup 4x4 MC and booster with the 4 stud bolt pattern, from what I have read it will work on FJ's but would like to confirm it will work on a BJ. It is a 4 wheel disk, non-ABS setup, and not sure how it will react on a vacuum pump. Has anyone used this MC before / or can confirm it will work? Also are the fittings 10mm 3/16" hard line like on the FJ? Will a standard flaring tool (harbor freight special) work?

The brake parts for a BJ40 are the same for an FJ40 of the same vintage.

Hth,

Gee. ...I was going to challenge you on this John (even though I know you're usually correct in everything you post). :o

But you're right!

PS. I always thought the boosters were different ... but I must have been mislead by the fact that most FJ40s I see on MUD (of the same era as mine) have disks up front....And the disks must be the real reason behind their boosters being different!

PPS. A right-hand-drive BJ4# cruiser (like mine) has insufficient room between the firewall and aircleaner to mount the fatter "tandem-type" booster that I see on front-disk-equipped FJ40s. (Even with my thin booster - my master almost hits my air cleaner.) ....Not sure if this info is any use to you. ....And I don't think this problem occurs on LHD BJ4#s.

LHD have room enought for a big booster. The air cleaner is on the same side then a RHD so you don't have it in your way. I have a fatter booster from compagnie in my BJ40 then you lostmarbles and my master have two bottle. Don't know why we have so much difference between 2 same landcruiser from 2 differents place.
