Hi, I have a BJ74 running on a 14B Engine.
Brakes were giving me issues (very weak had to pump them). Did some work but they would heat up too much. So recently I changed the master cylinder (second hand) and wheel cylinders (new) and put in place a booster (second hand). Initially brakes were to weak did some adjustments and now they lock and heat up. Someone told me to put in a compositor?? Im now defeated on how to proceed. Whats with the brakes, I have no idea.
Any pointers or advice will be great

So you're saying in all four corners the brakes heat up?

Usually I attribute brake's heating up to a siezed piston in a brake caliper (if it's in the front) or although i've never seen one a seized rear wheel cylinder (usually they leak before they seize I believe)

If it is your back brakes giving you issues, there is a rear proportioning value, that senses the amount of load on your back wheels and gives more or less braking pressure depending on the amount of gear in your truck.

the brakes on these trucks aren't really proned to issues.

Can you get a new master cyl?
If its the back brakes heating up,back off the adjustment and make sure the handbrake is not over adjusted
Front ones,as Eric says.

Download and manual and work through it one thing at a time.
