FS 1984 Diesel BJ 60 Landcruiser
1984 Diesel Landcruiser. This is the most desirable year as it came with 5 speed transmission, power steering and power clutch. If you have never driven a landcruiser they are the ultimate. The drivetrain is designed to function in extreme conditions such as Africa and South America. The front ends are more than twice as large as a Ford Explorer, and the size of 3 ton trucks. That is why they never break. The 4 cylinder motor is also used in fork lifts and will run forever. It has metal sleeves like a true highway truck motor. The later model with the 6 cylinder did not have the sleeves and has not stood up nearly as well as the 4 cylinder. Fuel mileage is fantastic with 30 mpg on the highway.
When you buy a landcruiser you are making an investment. They will provides years of trouble free service without complicated computers and sensors. This one is rust free and will hold its value.
The head was off and all new precups were installed. Precups are the small quarter size objects that close off the preburn chambers in a diesel. They should be replaced at around 300,000 km as they can crack and then fall into the engine seriously damaging it. This was performed by a Trained Toyota mechanic and all new gaskets including the head gasket replaced. The precups are $200 each and there are 4. When the head was off no wear was measured on the cylinder. The truck will not be good for the next 300,000 km. I had stainless steel ones put in as they last longer.
Everything works perfectly, including the rear heater. The interior is mint, no rips or tears. The truck drives like new. I have had 3 other landcruisers and this is the nicest!
My boys have moved back east to Ontario and I no longer need the vehicle for snowboarding at Hemlock.
Mileage is 350,000 km
Price is 11,200 cdn $9000 US
Abbotsford, British Columbia Canada
