my bj-42 seams slightly possesed after driving it a while it will stall. There seams to be some clicking below the glove box door (it is right hand drive cruiser) It will also stall if I turn on the air conditioning? any ideas? Thanks in Advance:mad:

I moved you to the diesel tech forum. Hopefully your problem can be resolved in here.

If it stalls with the ac on I would suspect a seized compressor.

the clicking must be a relay making and breaking. Not sure which ones you have in there.

Not sure if I have a related problem or not, but my 1971 FJ40 with a transplanted 3B/H55F from a 1985 BJ60 was having the same problem earlier today (no A/C, so no seized compressor). It ran fine up the street, idled fine in my driveway for a while, and then decided to stall multiple times while going up a slight incline to where I park it. It had some issues re-starting (almost like it was having a problem getting fuel), and when it did start, it would stall as soon as I let the clutch out and put it under load (it would rev fine without load). Finally got it running for more than 30 seconds and back in it's parking space.

I'm thinking fuel restriction of some type, but haven't had time to troubleshoot.

Anyone have ideas?

What does your oil pressure read at the time it stalls?

the relay in the glove box is the EDIC relay (the motor on the injection pump)
it make the injection pump on stop , ignition and "road" (sorry i don't know all the english words)
the problem i got with this relay was the edic itself
i opened it (the edic) and find dirt in it (it's like a wiper motor)
so the electric contact wasn't good and the edic didn't stop so the relay went on and off regularly
check your edic look closely all the electric contacts it could be your problem

Completely forgot about the low oil pressure cut-off functionality in the BJ60 that donated my 3B. My stall was more of a stumbling stall, though, not a clean cutoff like one of the low oil shutoffs I've witnessed in the past (used the EDIC to do it - just like turning the key off).

Does the BJ42 at the start of the thread even have a low oil cutoff function? I've never seen a 40 series diesel that had an EDIC. Might be a dumb question since it seems to have A/C, so I can't see why it wouldn't come with an EDIC as well.

My previous 1983 BJ42 had an EDIC, and also my 1977 BJ40 has one.
