Bison gear has a tire carrier now

FYI, about half the cost of the overpriced JW model.

My guess is no internal bracing which both JW and ACC carriers have. And no lower support from the pics. The carriers of this design really need a lower brace to support the weight when docked and reduce the strain on the OEM hinges, door skin, and latch.
 
I'm not in the market for one, but my guess is it's the same, just a lot cheaper to build them in Poland and ship. Bison Gear makes good stuff, I have a lot of it.

I've also yet to see a documented case of a door failing, but have seen plenty of people go to town with a grinder/torch on their chassis/fenders/body mount in order to get giant tires or a big bull bumper to fit. It's funny what some people find to be a bad idea.

You can see in the photo it doesn’t have a lower support. So it’s not the same. Even JW started out that way only to add one later, and there is probably a reason they were advertising add ons for the carrier itself (hi lift mount, propane tank mount, etc) only to never market them in the end.

Ive seen Bisons stuff and I’m not disagreeing it’s fine. What I’m saying is for the price they should add a lower support and beef up the design if they are going with a concept that they are replicating.

I have seen a JW carrier lead to a couple door skin tears but mostly isolated to early 460 designs as the door innards aren’t the same as a 470. Ive read of 2 people with diy door mounted carriers tearing the door skin.

Do you happen to have their recovery points ? Been thinking about snatching a set up for that price .
 
I don't, I have the LFD front bumper which gas them built in. I mostly have their rear tailgate storage stuff.

SRQ Fabrication recovery points are USA-made and super beefy. They were around $130 shipped when I got mine. I have yet to use them but am confident the frame of my GX would bend before they are ripped off. I have some pics in my build thread.

I reviewed the install video, they do have the lower support. Anyone try it yet?
 
Decent price. I installed a JW in 2020 and the powder coating/paint has failed in many areas and is an ugly rusty mess.
I had their first gen neck on mine in 2020. I noticed that the welds were rusting through the powdercoat. Contact JW with pictures and they sent me out an updated version for free. It is shorter than the original and I had to use the center plate mount instead of the one on the side.

Doesn't hurt to contact them to let them know. Most companies are willing to make it right.
