hello
I need your help, my bj40 will lead coil springs, which the best shocks?
7100 bilstein or fox smooth2.0?
the weight of the front axle is 910kg and 650kg rear. to which the valving adequate for

which is the best place to buy? allshocks? eshocks? other?

thank you

My fj60 is soa with one ton axles and weighs a good bit. I went with the 7100's from eshocks just because they had the best price. I got the firmest valving available (I think theres 2 or three choices). Had 7150's on there before but they didnt have em in the lengths I needed. 2 ouf 4 were blown for a while so I couldnt really compare them to the 7100's , the new ones just felt way better lol.

Im tempted to try a set of the fox shocks on my 40 project. Theyre rebuildable and the local motorcycle shop should be able to adjust the valving if its not perfect for your application..

I was gonna use FOA shocks on the 60 and went as far as to buy all four but was not impressed with the quality/assembly so I traded em away. Dude still has em and hasnt used them so I may finally give them a go if hes willing to sell cheap.

Fox has more retailers in my area that actually carry the tuning valves and rebuild parts in stock, so my choice was FOX. When you measure up your weight, try to get it without axles and tires+wheels. We used a large hanging scale for cows and just lifted from bumpers. As soon as the weight came off springs we too that measurement and added 225lbs/100kgs for passenger. The dampening force only applies to the weight the shock will be holding/slowing.

If you were to call anyone try shops that that are familiar with FJ40s, they already know the weights and prob gone thru a bunch of setups.

i just picked up 7100 as i thought they were rebuildable, however, not sure how you would as it doesnt look user serviceable lol. but should ride well.
