I recently picked up a 2004 GX470 and wanted to only lift the front right now. I was checking to see if I could install the Bilstein 5100’s in the front on the middle or top setting using the factory front coils? I have seen most people have opted to replace the front springs. I was checking to see the cons of using factory front springs and if it is even possible to use them? Is anybody running 5100’s upfront with factory springs?

Thanks

It will work, but my coils were sagging almost 2”. New coils are a good baseline and will perform better.

Yeah that’s the problem with re-using your old sagging front stock coils. You could be sagging 1” - 2” lower than original stock height.

If you haven’t settled on the 5100s, i recommend going with the 6112s.

In my build thread somewhere, there’s a picture I stole from the World Wide Web that illustrates the thickness and sturdiness difference between the 5100s and the 6112s.

6112s much better suited for the GX470 than 5100s, but that’s just my opinion.
