Each summer I like to take the family on one big adventure. It usually involves a trek to the mountains. This summer is still up in the air for various reasons with $$ being high on the list. Anyone have any big summer plans?

Kids want to head back to CO, but I'm not sure budget is going to allow. I have 3 kids and my fiancé has 2... Yep that's 7, and if we include my lab...gets real tight in the 80. My Mule comes in real handy with all the gear needed, but still gas at $4 isn't something I'm looking forward to. I have thought about doing the "around the lake trip", with a trip around Lake Michigan and seeing the UP for the 1st time. I have some family in lower MI that we love to go see, and it would be a great adventure to get there. Perhaps we won't even make it out of the UP if we find a nice area for camping and some fun off-roading. Any suggestions?

no big trips planned. My wife is heading to Iowa this weekend, that means I hope to spend the weekend working on the FJ40.

I would like to jump on the motorcycle and take a week or two trip. I haven't done that for years. But I really would like to get a lot accomplished on the FJ this summer! Right now it's a pile of parts. My goal for May is rolling chasis.

Was also thinking about making the FJ Summit this year. It's been 3 years since I've caught it, but again $$ this summer not looking as good as last. Woody, you heading out there this year?

Our big plans have happened we our wisconsin residents again .......

Welcome back! I won't ask... I assume you are back in Rock county.

We have 4 fj40's going to the Cliff Hangers 4x4 Rendevous in Watford N.D. Then we are going to the Black Hills Cruiser Classic. First TLCA event for my wife and I, looking forward to the trip.

Back in janesville 4llc? I see your 80 around town all the time.

Does anyone got anywhere special to go in the UP fo trails/offroad/camping? Taking the kids north to experience the great lake region, and I've never explored up there.

UPoverland is a great website...

I just spent a couple days roaming around up there because I brought the wrong damn keys for my lease - couldn't even open the gate!
I ended up camping at Chicago Lake and cruising Hiawatha national forest. Lots of waterfalls up there, the Deyoung family zoo is really cool too. Seney wildlife refuge is a nice area, as are the porcupine mountains, pictured rocks national lake shore etc etc the list goes on and on...

Spent the week with the kids hitting some forest roads, fishing, camping, swimming, and exploring the UP. Had a great time with Lexy leading the way. Drove about 900 miles total and had a blast. Kids 1st time seeing Lake Superior.

I really need to look into the UP Overland trip they put on. Looks like tons to see and do.
