My son and I went riding on the 3rd, and were up by Wolf Pen Gap in NE GA. We took a road showing on my GPS called Big Grassy Knob Road. On google maps, it doesn't show the road, but shows W. Wolf Creek Road. Anyway, Big Grassy was a road off to the left of West Wolf Creek. We rode for about an hour, and eventually it started looking like it was turning in to single track, so we turned around. The GPS showed the road coming out somewhere on 60, or near Coopers Creek.

Just wondering if anyone has ridden the whole road in a 4x4. If not, is anyone interested in heading back up there to try? My 80 made it fine to the extent we drove. What I can say about it is lift is required for at least an 80, mainly due to a couple dual whoopdies. The 80 made it over without scrubbing.

If you click the link, and click to satellite view, you can see the road start off the left just after leaving pavement

I could head back up there the weekend of the 18th. I live maybe 20 minutes away, but never rode up there before. As far as temps, it was 10-20 degrees cooler in the mountains. It was near 90 in Cleveland Thursday. When we were on the trail, it was 75-80 with a cool breeze. We camped near Suches on Winding Stair Gap Road, and it was cool enough the next morning to turn the heat on for a bit- maybe upper 50's.

I would like to check out some N GA roads but A. our 4Runner doesn't have a lift (yet) and B. I have no days off this month :crybaby:

I know the club has an "expo" type ride in the works. 95% or more of the GA trails (expect for Beasley maybe) are passable in a stock truck. I've found very few spots that my 80 could get through that my 97 stock 4Runner would get stuck. The biggest difference I've found is in some mud holes, I'd kinda blast through in my 4Runner, but my 80 could cost through, back up, lumber back out of it. Much like a 6000 lb. pig

There was one spot on the big grassy knob road that required a slight off camber maneuver to go around a large rock. Inside the truck I felt like I was close to center of gravity. My son got out and video'd it. The 80 might have been at 15 degrees:(. As long as I've been 4x4ing, I know near nothing about anything tough.

One point of review- I bought some 315 Fierce Attitude MT's last last month. I'm impressed with the tires so far. They have great grip. I've filled them with mud of a few different types, and the clean out with ease. In fact, I stopped when they were filled and the mud looked like it wanted to fall out with the truck stopped. The void look much larger in person than online photos, and are pretty deep. They are much more aggressive than the Duratracs with basically the same tread pattern. The barbwire pattern in the tread and on the sidewall is stupid, but wouldn't stop me from buying them again. They're not TSL's, but have plenty of grip on gravel, dirt and pavement.
