Its beautiful down there and a awesome place to get away from the daily grind. At night you can see every star and the satilites too! (Brett has this green laser to point them out:)) Brett is an awesom tour guide down there espicially in the park its self! If you have been wanting to go down to this part of the world this would be the time to go. Brett has been going down there for years Chris Smith has been going down there his whole life and owns property, and Ive been going at least twice a year since 2004. Should be a well prepared and equiped group! Dont miss out!!

Brett,

I'm good for any dates except the 8th and 9th of February........I think we should decide now and let people start planning. Hopefully we will have good turnout.

Any of the February dates will work for me. Unless there is an ice storm.

Well I see by your signature you got the 80 :D

So how about a report? :)

I did. And I am very pleased overall. The thing is a TANK.

To keep this topic related, I am looking forward to taking it out to Big Bend. I would like to take it and tow the 40, not sure how practical that would be. The pictures and videos posted are AWESOME. I have forwarded the links to some friends, I hope that is not against the rules.

OK after talking with club members in Dallas, Austin and Houston, it looks like Feb 21-24 is the best date. This could be a rather large group of Land Cruisers! Very cool! We're still working out the details but the tentitive plan is to camp in Big Bend and tour the park and the Terlingua area.

What does everyone think about these dates?

The 80 is definitely superior for the road trip. I guess it is a comfort level thing. I *know* how the 40 will respond and what to do. The other one feels big and heavy to me. Also I guess being an automatic it seems like I have less control. I'm sure I will be used to it by February :)

Dates are good...... I CAN NOT go Feb 8th and 9th. So the 21st on is perfect.

I talked with Chris Smith and he's putting together an "official post" for the trip. He should have it up soon.

There is a good possibility of this being a large group so many will have to camp around the adobe house. I’ll certainly volunteer to camp. The surrounding area is beautiful and offers incredible views. Check this link to see some camping areas.

We’ll work out some of the logistics as we get closer. Chris’s family house is a great base camp and offers many of the comforts of home. We really enjoyed sitting around the patio after dark on our last trip. The stars are fantastic and this is where the evening shenanigans take place. And by shenanigans I mean snake catching and fox fondling. And by fox fondling I mean watching “Fred” the fox come up to eat our meal leftovers. There really amazing animals.

If you have to choose one trip to attend, choose this one. This is a classic style expedition trip that offers incredible 4x4 touring with knowledgeable people that know the area. You will see some of the classic, true Texas places.

The entire photo collection of our last trip is here.

Stand by for more details.

Awesome pics. Was there a lodge or something nearby? I definitely will camp but I thought I remembered it as an alternative.

Yes, there is a nice lodge or cabins at the ranch headquarters, probably 30 min from the adobe. Info can be found on the website at: Terlingua Ranch Lodge - Welcome

Anyone wishing to stay there should make reservations soon.
