I would like to clear some things up about this little trip/expedition to the Big Bend area. As Ive heard through the grapevine there may be some false perceptions. The pictures of past terlingua trips where people had firearms where all on private property and not in the National park. Also it was a limited number of people who went on that trip and they all were told and knew up fron there would be some hunting involved and were ok with it. The upcoming Febuary trip will be very different.

This Feb. trip has been billed a multi TLCA chapter event for all members to explore and enjoy the Big Bend area together as friends and family. As it is still in the planning stages lodging camping and itinerary are not set in stone. But Febuary will be here before we know it so please If your interested at all post up so the guys planning this thing can best plan it! As Ive stated in other threads, there are people going with lots of experiance and knowledge of the area down there. I think this is the time to go If you've ever wanted to visit this great part of the country! Dont miss this opportunity:cheers:

Here is the link for the San Antonio Chapter thread. I will start a thread in Austin and Houston too.

I think Brett has the 2.5 Lift on his LX450 and he did fine. In the National park you would have no problems with a stock truck unless the road has washed out. Its mostly just dirt roads on the private land too. Only time a stock truck would have troubles is on the private land IF we decided to explore up a creek bed! I did most of the trails in a stock f350 my first trip there! We deffinately arent going there to break something! Here is a link to a video from the last trip the parts with the rocks would be the creek beds on the private property.

My FZJ80 has 295's and a lift, or I take the Stock FJ62, or the FJ40.hummmm. sounds like a great trip, Michelle is interested in going, but not sure about taking the kids or not. 5 and 8 years old.

The 80 would be the most comfortable on the bumpy dusty roads! I dont know who all is taking Children yet. Im assuming we will get a feel for who and how many we will have going over the next month then start planning around that number. Here is a link to some pics I took down there over the last year or so.

Big Bend

My friend Kirk and I made a trip to Big Bend a couple of years ago. We went in May and it was way to hot to enjoy. I think Feb would be a good time of year to go. We drove Black Gap road and it was nothing any stock rig could handle. There are some nice primitive camp sites along the River Road but as the Park guide book warns there are "travelers" in the area. Read as illegals and bandits. Camping would be fun in a group and properly armed. Count me in I would love to go back. Hunting would be a plus. Mike
