I'm taking one of my kids (14 years old) up to Big Bear to wheel Saturday and Sunday, 6/25-26.

I don't have any trail plans yet, but wanted to get the date up for anyone available to join us.

I could actually use some suggestions for trails as its been a while since I've wheeled in Big Bear and don't remember the trails we ran during past trips.

Mark- I would recommend Gold Mountain and John Bull -You should be able to get a few others to go - its a great combo.

I would join you - but I will be up in the Sierras that weekend .

John Bull, Gold Mountain, Dishpan Springs, Rattlesnake Canyon these are the best of the Mountain.

Tim are you doing some hiking? I am pondering a trip soon with my Brother.

When are you driving up?

I'll most likely be leaving mid morning on that Friday (6/24) and stay at one of the hotels on the lake. I do not plan on staying at the campground, athough you are welcome to. I think there is a small fee for the campground though..

I'm driving up Sat and might not be able to make your departure time in the morning. I looked at the route and could meet the group at Hwy 18 at Cactus Flats. I will just have to see how early I can get out of SD.

I'll PM you my #. Just give me a call when you get into town. There should be cell service at least for the first half and some of the second, but heartbreak ridge is fairly remote. I'll also be on 2m if you have a ham radio. Check the other thread for the repeaters.

Eric, bummer we were not able to meet up. I waited a while at the top and ended up doing the run with Rob and Steven and the Jeeps, who had to head back with a fuel leak. Sunday we did John Bull. Here are a few picts. Not too many of my rig until I get the files from the other cameras.

Looks like fun, I'll have to meet up for one of these trail runs...

Mark,
sorry I missed you. By the time we were done with GM it was well past our meeting time. I'm glad you had fun. I see you met up with Steven from RR. I think he was with our group too, not sure. Holcomb creek just opened back up yesterday, so I want to get back up there and run that.

I'm going back next weekend and would like to do GM since I missed it this trip. How was that run? After John Bull we tried running all the way to Green Valley Lake, but by 9pm I was tried and had to get home and we just headed back to the highway. Steven from RR knows the trails in the area very well so it was great to have him to navigate. I didn't have all the roads on my GPS. Made it home by midnight.
