Charlie just sent me an e-mail saying that they're coordinating a clean-up day with BLM for June 7th at Bickel AND BURRO SCHMIDT.

If you haven't been to Burro Schmidt lately, it's going downhill fast. It was really depressing to see how much vandalism has taken place there. BLM is ready to commit to having FLCC host a caretaker there, but the perameters may well be worked out on the ground THAT DAY, so imput from the off road community may be very beneficial.

Mark your calendars.

I was at the Friends of jaw bone meeting out at Jaw bone station.
Along with CORVA the Head of the BLM, Out that way and the head of the state parks. It was very interesting. It seams we have limited help from the state and feds. They seem to want to do something but have no money. All the land closers are putting stress on what land we have left to use. So, picking up trash and respecting trail markers is critical. It is up to us!
So, if you can make it out there to help out please do. Burro Schmitt Tunnel and Bickel Camp have been around sense the 30's
and have a long and interesting history. Some of the last around and deserve are help to keep them around for us and are kids.
They have been a destination for many years now lets keep it that way!

Calico is already back up there. I will be going tomorrow evening.

Hope you can join in this worthy cause.:)

THe cleanup went well, as cleanups go. About 20 volunteers managed to fill the HUGE dumpster in about 2.5 hours. I got the job of dismantling that huge satellite dish that's been laying on the ground for forever. Nice itchy fiberglass.

Still not quite sure about the BLM's intentions. There was more than one person that came away from the event thinking that the BLM will eventually knock down the house altogether.:frown:

I would like to do more to help. Gonna follow up on this.
