BFG mud vs.

To reiterate, it depends on use. You will be much happier with the AT if you do much road driving. And they aren't too bad off road either. I think the MT (which I am ditching now) gives up more on road than it gains off road. But of course it depends on your driving conditions. MT's are really pretty loud too, and I have an 80 series which are well insulated from noise. So I'd lean to AT unless you do a LOT of off road. OR. Get a second set of wheels and have both. Might be impractical but it's a thought.

Just to reinforce the crappy snow performance of the MTRs, I got stuck in my own driveway (0.06 slope) when my 33x10.50s were brand new. It was the early, wet variety of snow.

Had 'em siped & it made a big difference. But not enough to make me quit wishing I'd gotten the Geolanders.

I used to live in UT and work at a ski resort. At the time I was still SUA with the OME lift and I ran 33x10.50 A/T's. Never got stuck in the snow with the A/T's, even when I was sure there was no way I could make it through a snow drift, the truck kept going. I wish I had some pictures of the crazy snow wheeling we would do up there.

In the summer, we would hit the mountain trails or head south to Moab. A/T's never let me down (granted Moab is very A/T friendly). In all those years, I ran through two sets of A/T's and never bothered with any other tire. Always steered away from mud, though. Not because I was worried of getting stuck, I just hate mud.

Now that I live in San Diego, I don't worry about snow traction so I run MT/R's.

Anybody know how the Dick Cepek Fun Country IIs compare to the BFG AT KO?
I'm getting ready to buy a new set of tires and the choice for me is between the BFG AT and FC II. I like the ATs but the FC IIs seem to be a little more aggressively treaded. I occasionally 4 wheel some mud. I do not want MTs since that is what I have on now, and I want to buy a tire that is suited toward the majority of my driving, hence an All Terrain style tire.

My concerns are, is the FC II as quiet or quieter than the AT and sidewall strength.

Anybody have any experience with Dick Cepek FC IIs or know anything about them? BFG AT KOs are a known quantity for me, since I have had a set on my 80.
