I did a quick search and could not find many pics of this. Just got them today for my 1 month anniversary gift to my Land Cruiser. I traded in my old Grandtrek (1700 miles on them) to Discount Tire for $100 discount per tire...so saved $400 on the new BFG KO2.

LT 285/60/18. Load Range D. As per rec, 46 psi all around. Stock suspension (no plans to change that). And of course, laces out.

Looks real good, especially on the white truck.

Of course, above was my 2nd mod after getting my LC.......the first one is most important....but it came from my prior vehicle.....so it is well used. :)

How do you like those tires in load range D. That may be my choice for a winter tire and wondered about ride and noise.

Well, i literally just got them this afternoon. So far, after a brief highway ride, noise increase is minimal. The ride itself in city is a tad rougher than stock Grandtrek. I am pretty happy with the noise level...fear the worst, but all good.

@Sandroad I run KO2s on my pickup. In fresh snow/powder they are great. One packed snow/ice...they are not good. Not sure where you’re located but if you need a good snow/ice/winter tire I wouldn’t go that route. I just put Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 SUVs on our 200. And here in Idaho winter just set in. Had about 6” yesterday along with blowing and drifting. The Nokians did very good.

Thanks. I’ve noticed that some sizes of the KO2s have the 3peak symbol and some don’t. Are those you have branded with that?

Just in case anyone wondering...my BFGs do have SNOWFLAKE and 3-ply sidewall.

Thanks, that’s exactly what I wanted to know.

FWIW, I ran C rated KO2s on my 4runner with the 3 peak snowflake. As stated above, horrible on icy conditions. It isn't difficult to get a snowflake rating, IIRC, 10% better traction over a baseline radial (summer type) tire. I have had much better ice traction with Duractracs, Falken Wildpeaks (which I now run on all 4 of my rigs, really happy with them) and Grabber AT2s.

I am very interested in this thread as I have the same car and I wanted to do the same exact thing. How did you convince America’s tire to give you the credit for the old tires?

There are indeed two versions of the KO2s. The "DT" version has a 50,000 treadwear warranty, and does not have the three peak winter rating. Some vendors aren't very clear about this distinction, so make sure you ask!

I got lucky. I came twice to the store. First time was to do price check because I was not sure if I wanted to change tires that early. I was quoted $50 per tire for my Grandtrek.

Then I came back 2-3 weeks later and spoke to different guy about ordering it. This time he gave me $100 per tire.

So it is really depending on the salesman.

More pics.

Quick update...50 miles driving on highway this morning. Highway noise is minimal over stock. You have to pay attention to notice the (very) slight increase in noise. (I have heard that KO2 do get louder near the end of its life.) The highway ride is fine. The biggest difference is in slow speed in city driving. That is when you notice bumps more than with stock tires.

I am REALLY digging the new tires and the look.

Also added phone mount for my iPhone. This mount is my favorite: Square Jellyfish Car Mount Holder...can be bought on Amazon.

But because the LC has vertical slates for the vent, the mount will go left and right a lot, esp with cornering. So, I just used a foam wrapped in electrical tape (many times) and pushed it into the bottom of the vent (also added some elmers glue to keep it there). Now, the vent does not move sideways when cornering. Thus, mount is rock solid in holding my phone exactly where i want it.

This mount does not block the navigation screen (or the use of it)...nor interfere with any other dash buttons. Close for me to interact with phone easily. Does not block line of sight ahead...yet my phone is at eye level for me to see my phone easily. Does not block any other buttons or dash screen. And yes, the vent mount is very steady off-road.

And when i drive long distances, my phone is cooled down by the AC vent...thus, prevents overheating when using navigation and having sun hits phone directly. And in winter time, i just shut off THAT vent to prevent heater from burning up my phone.

I've been riding stock sized KO2's D-rated for a long time now (2016 model, I can't remember for sure but I think I changed them out in 2017). I actually started with the E-rated 270's that give you an extra inch of height. I felt the E-rated was too harsh, so when I saw these were available D-rated I gave them a shot. I've enjoyed them. They are noticeably more harsh than stock tires, but noticeably less harsh than the E-rated.

My biggest complaint isn't the harshness, but the gas mileage. My mpg (measured many many times, always the same result) dropped by approx 1 with the tire change.

I've been all over mud in my home area Louisiana, mountain trails in Colorado, and Arizona in these tires. Most difficult trail was going up Schnebly Hill in Sedona which was full of rocks the whole way. Tires performed like a champ. I've considered switching out for better mpg with Nitto Ridge Grappler 305/60/18 which is not LT rated at all, but I just can't see them performing as well over rocks. I continue to go back and forth in my mind.
