I bought the Crux WVITY-01 unit and took it to an installer today who previously had experience installing Crux products. They took the dash apart only to find that the 2016 Land Cruiser radio has different plugs than will fit the ones on the default WVITY-01 unit.

Frank at Crux is looking into whether they either have or can make a new part to fit the radio. He's supposed to be calling me back, so I'll update as soon as I get an update.

Here is an album of pics the installer took: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

How would it handle all the auto functions that run through the stock head unit (AC, camera, etc.)?

It's just a pass through basically that manipulates the video in motion and modifies the a/v input to use the attached wifi box (rebranded mirabox). Everything else just passes on through like normal.

So the buttons to the left of the screen remain in place? Do that just feed whatever screen is installed then? I always wondered about that.

2016 buttons are all on the bottom, but yeah that's the idea. Everything else is the same except the A/V line feeds the wifi box and video in motion is manipulated (while that's turned on it tells the car it's not moving so you can watch videos). You turn it back off to let the car think it's moving again, which is required to use the navigation. It's all controlled on the steering wheel.

This is all assuming they can find a replacement part for the 2016 stereo.

This is very similar to the Prestigious Society Nav/Media bypass module.

I thought he was talking about a replacement head unit.

Does it require you to have to hit all the buttons at startup every time? Or is that just to do cell wifi display?

Last word from Crux: no connector for the 2016 Land Cruiser, so do not buy until they specifically say it works post 2015 model year. Gonna have to find a different way to get phone mirror cast on the dash.
