My Cruiser lives in a super dry desert climate, with lots of dust. I will extend the rear breather next to the gas cap. The front diff, and transfer will be extended to the engine bay.

It only rains 10x a year here...but usually it results in local flooding.

My question is should I use a gas filter(this worries me a little), or just use the Toyota caps I got from Beno.

Any thoughts Amigos?

From what i've read, i don't think it matters, but since you already got them from beno, use those.

or go way overkill and use both. Long Breather Tube > Option 2 > Short Breather Tube > Option 1.

FWIW: I used option 1, recycling the factory one way valve and terminated both diffs in the engine compartment. Is there a breather on the T-Case? If so, I missed it.

EDIT: Oh yeah. Trans/T-Case terminate at dipstick. https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/272987-breather-questions.html

What's the part number in those Toyota caps?

Since the Cruiser's are overkill anyhow i like the idea of utilizing both!

I got the breathers from Onur at American/ Larry H Miller Toyota... all of the packing materials are in the trash...sorry

It will be interesting to see if the 06's follow the oil dip stick. They do not have a trans dip...

Here is how the transfer breather looks.

I might avoid the fuel filter because if it gets oil on it it will no longer pass air freely, it would be good for dust but you would want to keep an eye on it and make sure it stays dry.
Also be sure to avoid oil traps in the tubing as the cold oil is so thick it will also not allow free flow and can lead to blown seals.

Good to know, I have a loop in my engine compartment where I left the tubes a little to long. Have any of you who have run the tubes from the back to the front (15'-18') had any issues? It's a very long run and I was wondering about it when I installed mine.

I haven't done my rear yet but will probably go to the fuel door as I did on my Tacoma.

I will also consider using the Trail Gear Bellows breather, creates a closed system, no dust and no hoses.
