Havahart 0745 or the previous version IMHO.

Seems like a lot of their other traps now have the diagonal release rod. I don't like those very much. The ones I've seen seem to get harder to trip with age.

OTOH, the 0745 has an external trigger that can be made exquisitely sensitive. I have gotten birds even by accident with those things (I release them).

Poison is not an option for rodents that are close to the house or outside vehicles. You want those physically caught rather than having them die someplace hidden from sight or god forbid in a wall or basement.

I have tried body traps for squirrels with essentially no success but I'll admit those were crude attempts.

I have caught probably 100 squirrels over the years with the earlier version of the 745. I have 2 others off-brand bought after somebody drove over my favorite Havahart. Caught maybe 2 with those... It does make a difference. Bought a dirt cheap one at HF. Never caught anything with it yet.

Havahart is great for customer support too. One of my 745 came in the box with a broken door latch. Instead of sending me a new door they sent me a whole new trap for free...

T'is the season! enjoy.....

Oh yea, watch out... Damn rodent caused me $100 wiring damage on my truck when I left it out for a bit, and I was lucky... That was a rat. caught 3 in the last 3 days... Little :censor:...

man, I put a couple of traps out every night and I get a rat or a squirrel every time just about. It's probably not helping that the yard is next to a big empty field...

anyway, here is what I use for bait if that helps somebody: piece of dry bread, some peanut butter spread on top, piece of lettuce leaf to cover it up. They eat it up... literally...

I see how you're getting your meals.

I guess he's not smoking them on the gas grill, though.

The Havahart traps require a custom built dunk tank, imo..

Be thankfull you dont live with pack rats...

More DIY than my using a trash can. Nice. :)

not my video...however this worked for me...and 3 other friends...try it :D

yup, nice gizmo. Going for a rolleycoaster ride before going for a swim... :)
Apparently, some variation of this is touted as a major contributor to famine avoidance/rodent control in the third world. Something with clay pots IIRC.

Hope you get luck in catchings those rats. As its very difficult trapping them. They surely are quick and fast as well............;)

I found long dead mice in my house for years after buying it, but no evidence of live mice since I moved in with a cat. I don't think they like living in a house with a cat and dog. My cat catches and eats chipmunks and birds, kind of a small cat for rats, but a huge stray cat moved in under my porch, built like a bulldog. That's the cat you need.

Quit whining like a bitch and get a cat.

Finally at all some one is finding luck in killings mices and rodents.... Well keep up the good work......
