I'm not a big fan of the gold emblems on my 99 and am looking to replace them with silver.

I've done some googling and searching here but can't seem to find a definitive go-to place for replacements.

Have any of y'all made a similar change? What vendor did you use? Any non-conventional choices that have a cool look? Like maybe using vintage badges?

Thanks in advance for the help, fellas.

Also, I'd be glad to give my gold emblems to anyone who would like them once I have replacements. Seems wasteful to throw them away just because of my personal preference.

I would like the hatch emblems once you get the new ones! Also if you use a scotchbrite pad the gold will come off and leave a brushed stainless look.

Save the cash. You need a blow dryer. Fishing string or dental floss. Paint 'em color of choice. Blow dry the adhesive once again and put them back on.

Check out my thread for reference.

I had to use adhesive to apply my emblems back on. My thread shows the adhesive I used. $5-6 bucks at local Oreilys or Autozone.

Do what's suggested above.

Plasti-dip works great and isn't permanent in-case you want to change the color down the road. You should finish them all in the "onyx" color offered on special edition yotas.

Sorry that the photo quality is lousy but after the plastidip suggestion and OG 91 LX's link, I ended up doing some searching and ran across this awesome Mazda Graphite metallic that several people have used for repainting their trim and wheels.

Couldn't resist getting it done, so I pulled all of the gold and sprayed it this afternoon. Really digging how it turned out. Wish the light was better. I'll take more tomorrow.

Great job! Looks bad ass!!!!

Couldn't find the type of adhesive you used - dumb question but did you remove all of the old adhesive with Goof Off first? Also, color paint did you use?

@cstu

I'm sure there are other types of car adhesive you can find and use.

My first idea was to remove the emblems permanently. I was going to remove all the adhesive that was left on the truck. As I started to remove the emblems I noticed the paint difference on the truck due to oxidation. So then I decided on putting the emblems back. There was still adhesive on the truck and adhesive on the emblems. I put some of the adhesive I purchased only on the emblems and put them back on the truck.

Paint used was a Rustoleum flat black.

Plasti dip them
Don't use plasti-dip for anything except testing a color. If your lucky you'll get a few months out of it before it starts peeling and looking like junk. Scuff them up and use special plastic spray paint, Krylon Fusion is good stuff.

I am so trying this tomorrow, I have always hated gold emblems and STUPID sun roof visors!

Although I'd love to remove all my rear hatch badges because the paint really needs to be buffed on under them.

Thought about trying to find a newer type logo in a dark color.
