Opinions? I'm a relative noob when it comes to firearm ownership (never owned but shot/cleaned/hunted/ect. handguns rifles shotguns but not recently) and considering a H&K .40 compact and a shotgun (Remington because that's what I know) of the "home defense" variety. Need a store that won't try and intimidate a noob. Yes we will be taking courses of the CCW variety plus I want to spend lots of time at the shooting range to get proficient. No use having a tool you can't use if you need to.

Pistol Parlor in Mesa is pretty good and has reasonable prices - no affiliation, just done some business with them a few years ago. They are located just west of Country Club on southern, IIRC.

X2 - I have gone there several times, he keeps hard to find ammo in stock as well - always has 180 grain shells for my antique Winchester 32 special. Good people.

Check out the Sportsmans Warehouse on the 60/Greenfield or wait for a gun show to come to town, those are the best for cheap guns. Check out the Springfield Armory XD compact in 40.cal.....I think you'll like it.
