^^^ Agree, some of the brake/clutch hydraulic parts that I have used from them appeared to be OEM with the name machined off.

I think BAP can get them, and in my experience with with BAP their brake parts seem to be high quality.

I talked to Kurt and he said he's been having a tough time getting Japanese cylinders (but he does have some in stock, but app. is iffy). Also said there is an unlimited supply made in Taiwan which he wouldn't even sell to his enemy.
I've got to pull some drums this weekend, any idea where BAP sources them from?

Nope, don't think that I purchased '40 cylinders from them, just good luck/result with other Toyota cylinders from them.

What is the problem with yours? If not scored, badly corroded, just kit them?

I've got both on the right rear that are beyond kits, reason I replaced the lefts last year..

And I'm still running the single reservoir master.

I have all the brake components from my 68 that are no longer used. For that matter, I removed most of the brake lines from the front end this evening. Most everything on mine was replaced back in 2002 or so and has been working as well as drum brakes can since. The single res. master is pulled out and all the wheel cylinders are still on, but could be pulled off.

Great offer thanks, let me give that some thought. Some day I need to upgrade to a booster and a dual res system just for the safety factor. The petal to the floor clunk last night was not something I enjoy.
For now I'm going with new aftermarket, or oem for brake parts.

I have an extra dual reservior if you are interested. Looks to be in pretty good condition but has no caps (at least not good ones).

My 68 FJ40 currently has wheel cylinders on it from Cool Cruisers of Texas(bought during one of their sales). It turns out that what they were selling at the time was not the same diameter cylinder that was used in 68. In 1968 a larger diamter cylinder was used. I have no idea how much difference the smaller cylinders made, but I was never able to get the brakes adjusted correctly. Now that those cylinders are leaking, I have the correct diameter ones from SOR.

An issue that I have had is that for the usual aftermarket supplier is that their books only go back to 1970. Late 1960's vehicles, in some cases were different.

I have gotten master cylinders from Barney's on Prince Rd. They seem to have done ok. I don't know if they can sort out the wheel cylinder differences or not.

Slight Hijack

Went by BAP this weekend looking for some more replacement wheel studs for my 60. They had some in stock, but when compared to the NAPA ones I had just picked up, they were about 3mm shorter, and the splines on the bottom were considerably shorter than the NAPA.

Make sure to bring your parts with you to compare when you go for any non-OEM replacements, you may be surprised by what the "books" specify as the replacement. Now I'm wondering about the NAPA ones vs Toyota OEM ones......

I replaced all 4 wheel cylinders on my 74 front axle with those from CCOT. I think I got them on a sale and the price was pretty good.

I just did the rear of my 60 with Napa parts, but it is 1985. Super low price I thought.

Update, and kinda bummed...

Pulled drums today, and it was the new aftermarket sor cylinders that failed (replaced last year). The rebuilt oems with kits from Merles on the left side are ok..

Shelf life issue?

If not rust pitted, put new seals and go?
