Just had an exhaust leak looked at and shop said most of entire exhaust system is rusted out after 15 yrs ..much of it being up north before I bought it. Anyway, I have researched here and there seem to be 3 common options. First, OEM cat back with will run me about $1600 installed/tax. Second, is a DD BA -14 system, which is very quiet but will end up costing about $2k after I add resonator and tailpipe. Third, some people here have done the Magnaflow/ Vibrant resonator/ DC custom tip for around $600 ish but I don't know what the drone is like at highway cruising.

Does anyone have specific experience with options 2 and 3? Only way I can justify DD is if there's a noticeable improvement in acceleration or responsiveness. My use is 95% DD around town, highway..with several hunting and fishing trips each year.

I personally would pick OEM 99 times out of a 100 for nearly everything but that’s just me.

Agree with OEM. I haven't been convinced that any currently available aftermarket solution is drone-free enough for my ears.

A possible option...
Borla. I've had them on my 80 and my 100. Just got my 200 and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

We've been messaging, but for future reference for others, I would go OEM as well. Tried a borla because of their reputation for being quiet and the drone was worse than the magnaflow I swapped in its place. But even with the magnaflow and a helmholtz resonator added to specifically target certain RPM ranges for drone, it would still drone at other RPMs under load (towing, driving up the mountains, etc). Ended up going back to OEM and am much happier. And I am an individual that has put an aftermarket exhaust on nearly every single car/truck I've owned and been happy every time. This platform just seems to be super particular.

Might check ebay for clean used exhaust. I"m sure you can do a lot better than $1600 for the two pieces behind the cats. I suspect if you got a clean set off a lower mileage vehicle they'd last longer than whatever else is going to rust off your northern truck first. Pretty sure the lx570 exhaust is identical.

That's a great suggestion that I hadn't thought of. Thanks.
