Long story short, my exhaust tip got mangled and needs to be replaced. Muffler is still good, I could probably just have a shop cut off the tube past the muffler, weld on a new one, and call it good, but figured if I have to pay a shop to cut/weld anyway, maybe I should use this as an opportunity to "upgrade" (???) the muffler? Anything I should check out?

I'd love to get either a nice low V8 rumble (tasteful, not douchey) or go the other direction and get as quiet as possible for that luxury vibe, which maybe means just keeping the stock muffler? What say you hivemind? Thanks!

With only the tip being damaged I would take it to an exhaust shop to weld on a new tip or even have them cut it at the resonator

If you want it audible, cut it at the resonator at least. I lopped off the muffler and it is still extremely quiet.

Thanks fellas! I see there are some bolt on options on Amazon that don't look half bad. I may just do a little snip job with the angle grinder and pop a bolt-on exhaust tip on there.

Thanks. I read this entire thread: 2013 Land Cruiser Exhaust Muffler Upgrade - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/2013-land-cruiser-exhaust-muffler-upgrade.1276080/

...9 pages, very helpful, but the TLDR is that pretty much everyone experienced severe drone problems at different levels, but usually at highway speeds in the 60-75mph range, which does NOT bode well for long road trips so that's a big deal killer. Most people ended up regretting the change and/or going back to OEM. I think one or two folks found a customized option by modifying an aftermarket Tundra option that worked pretty well, but still had a slight drone.

This seems like one of those areas where we buy Land Cruisers because they are extremely well built vehicles with high quality parts and some of the best engineering in the world.....then start second guessing everything and trying to rebuild/re-engineer stuff that works perfectly well. It's one thing if you're starting with a POS like Jeep or Land Rover or something and want to make it less POS'ey.....or you have an LC but want a super loud exhaust, or straight pipe for better departure clearance or whatever, but it appears for just a good all around exhaust that sounds great and doesn't drone, it's tough to beat stock, so I'm going to stick with that and just have a muffler shop weld on a new tip (might get something that looks cool and matches the black aesthetic I got going on).
