Lets postpone it a month! So I won't be in the Arctic Circle for this run! ;)

Confirmed HERE.

Sierra trek is Aug 7-9 so that will be over, we could do Fordyce again.:grinpimp:

I've never done Slick Rock, whats it like?

Barrett Lake is still closed, but it could be open by then. I've never done that trail either but it looks cool on the web.

Ya know if all else fails, and you guys can't find anywhere else to go, theres always the Prosor Pits. Some fun obstacles, maybe you could set up a bbq? just throwin it out there.

Barret ( from what ive seen) is pretty tough. + I think that there is a gate in the entrance restricting size.

Slick Rock is short and sweet with good camping spots around. You could do MT Reba then slick rock for more lasting pleasure.

Am I missing something from that link?
Looks to me that we would be missing those dates by over a week? Our date is set for 8/15- 8/16
If so, may I suggest Slick Rock, Deer Valley, Strawberry over the weekend? Fun wheeling, and great camping if nothing else.
What is Barret lake like? Ive heard of it, but have never talked to anyone whose done it.
SHHHHH!!!!!!!!T!

Good point.

Well, what do you guys want to do? I personally would like to try Barret Lake. From what I've read it's wrough, but not as bad as Fordyce. The gate is supposed to be wide enough for all but full width axles, so 40's and 60's shouldn't have a problem making through. I'll do some more research.

I found a couple of reports that say the gate is 79 in. wide. I also found the Forest Service OHV trail conditions site witch says the trail is closed due to "wet conditions". The page was updated on 7/3. I'll call to see if there's been a change.:bang:

I called last week and the lady at Pollock Pines NFS said the "Jeepers" were still clearing the trail. She didn't know who they were other than that.
I'd do a new trail in a heart beat if it's open. I'm sure we could get anything up to and including a 60 through from reading trail reports.

Im down!
Again...if you guyz wouldnt mind spotting me through.
Looks pretty burly from the pics that Ive seen. Ill measure my width tomorrow to see where I sit as far as that entrance dimension.
So will this be a day in, camp, day out sort of deal? Its 6 miles long from what Ive read.
Where approximately is it?

Keith, quit over thinking it:D. You won't go any slower than the rest of us. I was thinking of using our original plan for this trail. Go up Friday and camp at Wrights Lake (fish and relax). Then hit the trail Saturday morning camping at Barret Lake. Then come out Suday and head for home. For us it's just past twin bridges going west on 50, to the Wrights Lake turn off. The trail head is near Wrights Lake.

Sounds like a plan. Now we just need to make sure the trail will be open.
It looks like it was scheduled to be open July 20.
Scroll down to the Pacific Ranger District.

Sounds GREAT!
I wont be able to go till AFTER work on Friday which I get out at around 3:30 (I switched shifts with someone). I was talking to Dean (the guy who setting up my locker) he said it that one of his buddies did it with a Full size chevy and 40's. Seems as If Im gonna be the ONLY BULL in this china shop as there will most likely be no other wagons going, correct?
I CANT WAIT!
As far as overthinking, Sean...Youre absolutely RIGHT about that!
My palms start sweating when I look at the pics on the net! Im still just a rookie!

Hey guys, anybody got a spare seat. I would love to go on the ride with yall. I would take my 40, but she is stock with 32's....not quite big enough. Anyways, I can throw in on gas and stuff if anybody is game. I'll be at the meeting on the 12th, looking forward to meeting you guys and hopefully joining the club.
