Dusy, :hmm: we need to do that trail.
I'd like to give Barrett Lake another shot as well.

I wouldn't mind doing Bolivia again, but I don't know about the snow. It will be nice and sloppy up there!!
Chris, the January meeting is when we usually plan our multiday trips for the coming year. Some people need that much notice to put in for time off.

That run would make a good multi-day run....spring maybe. I wanna run some of those up near y'all too!!!:steer:
There are a lot of trails that would make a nice break from the heat for you guys next summer.

I'd like to give Barrett Lake another shot as well.

Im afraid of Dusy because of its length...as Im to understand it, its a about as hard as Rubicon, but just LOOOOONG!
X2 on Barrett.
I was looking forward to that till I saw the convoy rollin in.

Chris...
Yeah, IMO Bolivia would be pretty SLOPPY right now, Im sure.
I was thinking ahead to next spring (LATE)/ summer.

I think Andy P might give us some insight into Dusey.
One tough thing about the trail is how far it is from Reno. The trail head looks like a long days drive from Reno in an FJ40. So we're talking two days just getting to and from the trail. I think it's considered normal to take three days to do the trail. So five days IF there are no problems.

Maybe we need to do Barret as a mid week or Thursday - Friday run if anybody can get the time off. I have every Friday off getting a Thursday off wouldn't be a problem for me.

BTW I think you would do okay on Fordyce. You have the skills and the truck to do it.

You guys should stay off the Dusy. It's way too hard. It's way too long. It's way too far. It breaks parts. There is no re-supply. It sucks. There are no other people. The scenery is the same old high Sierra tundra of every other trail. Terrible trail and I would not wish my worst enemy having to transit that trail. People die on that trail every year and the buzzards eat them and part out their trucks.

BTW-Dan- Would you like to run it with us in August?

I can usually finagle time off like that...
Barrett is a tough one to plan for as the window of opportunity is so narrow for it. I might come down with an "eye" problem around that time at work!;)
Youre right though...everytime that Vette60 runs that, its a midweeker.
Weekends, i feel, would be the same scinerio we ran into last time.

Man...all this talk...I wanna go NOW!:bounce::bounce2:

Andy,
How do the wagons do on that run? As Im to understand, its pretty TIGHT.
Are you gonna be running it in the 60?

It's very tight, but not quite as technically hard as Rubicon or Fordyce. Every wagon I've seen go through there gets a ding or two on the roof line at the gutter rail.

The real difficulty of that trail is the length. You need to fully concentrate 8 hours a day for 3 days. The instant you let up-wham-it gets you.

Regarding the 60-It is unclear if Marlin will be back up to speed on the Toybox. They are missing some critical part right now. There is no way I'd do it without gear reduction. That truck may be another year away from "Trail Rated".

That sounds a lot like what I tell people who are thinking about moving to Nevada.:hmm:

I'm stockpiling man points. I may have to spend a week or two back east with the in-laws, that should earn me a pass.

What is wrong with Marlins toy box set up?
Dylan has been having trouble with a leak, I know that.
You mention the gear reduction and not wanting to wheel without it, and I constantly make the mistake that the manuals are a different animal than the autos...
Id LOVE to do that trail, but the fuel and remote location does cause some pause. Itd be an EXPENSIVE tow back to Reno for sure.
Not that I wouldnt DO IT, but its something that does demand respect.
After the Deer Valley break I had, I pretty much respect ANY trail no matter how tame.

Nothing is wrong with it as far as I know. Marlin told me at SNT he is slightly changing the design and moving the input a few thousandths. Right now, they are missing the input gear or something, and it is taking a long time to get the part from their supplier. He thought they might have it by the end of Jan 09.

Heck yea im all for Bolivia again this time ill have my rig so let do it im ready to rock and roll hehe will ahve the spring over done in the very near future hehe im ready to rock it let me at um Woot

Have you guyz been out there recently?
If the weather keeps up the way it has, it might be wheelable sooner than spring for sure!
Im SURE there is still a LOT of snow over the pass though.
