Hey everybody,

I wanted to add a little bass to my Cruiser, but don't want to forfeit the factory reciever. I really like Bazooka bass tubes and want to do a 10" 100W or 200W tube install. Regardless of which tube I install, I would like the audio feed to run directly from the reciever.

Bazooka makes a direct reciever install for Amplified bass tubes using wiring sets and extensions that run directly from the bass tube to the factory reciever wiring harness. Unfortunately I was informed by Bazooka that they don't make one for Cruisers. In fact, I havn't found a wiring harness that has said it is acceptable for Cruisers:mad:. I still want to do the connection to the factory reciever and know that I can just splice into the specific wires, but I would rather do it through a harness of sorts. Any suggestions?

Also, since the reciever doesn't suply power to the speakers, do I need to run lines from the Amplifier?

Any help would be great!

DC, they don't make a harness to my knowledge that allows you to run a direct loop plug and play to an external source, so you do have to splice wires and run an adaptor. I had this setup and it does require an installer and worth the money b/c it's a headache IMHO to do it yourself unless you are into the figuring out wire game.

I have a Pyramid adaptor that would allow you to do this if you are interested. I ended up putting in a new headunit so I don't need it anymore. I would go with an external amp and seperate sub. Probably cost the same and just better performance and life on them.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I agree. Bazooka tubes come setup to sound alright. Well when you mix and match your sub, box, amp and head unit, you can create a very high quality sound.

I want to have a unit that is easy to move and take in and out. I have installed several tubes before, I just wanted to make this one extra clean. I definitely don't want to change out any of the other speakers, I just want to add some clean sounding bass and I have found that Bazookas are a pretty reasonable answer. Oh and I definitely don't want to make any holes in my truck attaching an amp. I know an amp would be a little harder to setup so that it could be taken out and put back in otherwise.

Pyramid adapter?

Any more suggestions?

Thanks for the help guys:cheers:

Has anybody figured out a good way to teather (sp?) these to the floor board. In a head-on collision, you could be hit by a Bazooka.

I'm pretty sure you could rig mounts to the bolts that mount the jump seat in. Or at least teather it there

Not a fan of the tubes, but to each his own. I'd rather have a basslink, and did, for about a day.

I have a sub box that fits perfectly behind the second row, and is secured and easily removable using a ratchet strap going to the hooks in the floor the third row latches to.

The basslink comes with all wiring necessary to hook up to the stock unit.

The head unit doesn't have enough power to send a good, clear, & strong signal, and IMO sounds a little crappy when amplified.

I have a Bazooka hooked up in my 80 and it was a peice of cake. All I did was unplug the stock sub harness from the amp in the rear and spliced in the short harness from the Bazooka. I ran a ground to somewhere near the stock sub and ran the hot all the way to the battery with the included fuse. Works great with the stock setup and adds just enought bass to make the system adequate. Not a rocking system by any means, but much better than the stock one. I had the tube in my 60 and found an easy way to move it into the 80. With the quick plug in harness I can take it out in under minute when I need the room.

If exact details are needed on wiring I can take some pics and retrace wires for you, let me know I will be in and out this weekend.

Bazookas are cool, I run one from time to time. I just don't like the self powered versions of them.

Yes Pyramid...simple adaptor that is interfaced to give you an rca and lead still need to ground it and power it, but that's it. I don't remember how to wire the thing.

Stock Sub? This may take some explaining. I had no idea any of the FZJ80s had a stock sub.

Shoot one back if you get a chance.

Thanks TOY

In the passenger rear compartment area is the stock subwoofer and amp. Remove the the cargo panel there and you will see it. I unpluged the wiring harness from the amp and used the speaker and power inputs from the harness to hook up the Bazookas Remote Turn On Wire and Green & Gray Input Signal Connections. Find a suitable ground nearby and run the power cable to the battery. I found on the messasge board here a diagram of which wires are which on the factory sub harness.
