Want to go snow wheeling and camping close to town and yet still in a campground?
Then follow me March 29th to Battle Ridge Campground in the Bridger Canyon.
Battle Ridge is a campground that is open year round with no fees during the winter.
All you gotta do is make it the 100 feet from the road to the campground, Seems easy enough right?!?!
I have been driving up there and monitoring the snow levels.
By March 29th the snow depth will be perfect for anyone with a working 4x4 to come have some fun.
The campground has a bunch of sites and room for everyone to have there own site.
Just next to the campground is an area that is open for tent camping and mild wheeling.
A short loop trail that has a climb or two, nothing hard by any means............ depending on snow depth.
If you want harder snow wheeling you can drive down the canyon and see how far up Flathead Pass you can make it.
There is also Fairy Lake road, but the second gate is still closed as of 3-16-25. So not much for wheeling until the second gate opens.

Details:
Saturday March 29th, 2025.

Last year at this time the snow wasn't very deep at all, just enough for fun. This year may be deeper :)

Summer time it has a couple fun mud holes and little climbs.
Yes the views are incredible up top.

I’ll be honest with ya Andrew. Not to sure how I feel about this location for snow wheeling
I have wheeled and camped in this area for almost 20 years. There really isn't much snow wheeling here but a short trail loop. It is 100% legal and breaks no rules camping and wheeling around this area. The last thing I would want is to ruin an area that is dear to me. This won't be a WHEELIN trip but rather a snow campout with options to wheel. If it was muddy I wouldn't take people back there as it doesn't look good ripping up mud. However this is deep snow where we won't be tearing up any land just mashing down snow. Everytime I go back here I pick up trash and leave the place better than I found it.

Update
I went up to battleridge today and checked snow levels. It's knee deep at the deepest parts. Perfect depth in my opinion for 33 or taller tires nicely aired down.
I won't be able to campout as something came up but I am still planning on going up for the afternoon of playing around in the snow and making lunch at the campground. There is a bathroom open already at the campground. Big plus.
Anybody else thinking about coming along?
