My 2008 GX has a drain on the battery that I cannot seem to find. It happens when I leave the doors open when at a campsite (less than 1-2 hours). I go to crank and the truck does not turn over. Easily jumped and then the problem does not show up again until I leave the doors open. All the lights have been manually turned off. Is there a computer or some other culprit to the parasitic drain?

Don't take my word as gospel as I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in shortly; I think even if all of the lights are "manually" turned off with open doors, the truck might still be keeping some things hot and draining power, If you have lighted running boards for example.

Also how old is your battery? Mine was kind of weak/old when I purchased my truck and no amount of charging would really bring it back. It would exhibit similar symptoms you are experiencing.

Thank you.
The battery is maybe 2 years old. I assume that could be part of the issue, but the truck can sit for a week with no detectable battery drain and it cranks without hesitation. I have sliders, so no running board lights. I will replace the battery, but would like to find the source of the power draw.

There are small lights in the door panel themselves and there is no switch for them to turn on or off that I know of other than closing the door. Are you certain those are not still running?

Just out of curiosity, is there any way to wire a switch to allow all dome/accessory lights to be turned off when a door is open? It would be nice to have the option at a campsite to allow all the lights to be switched off, without disconnecting the battery.
