In an attempt to monitor transmission temperature on my 2023 GX460, I decided to order a Banks idash Super Gauge straight from Banks, along with their Pedal Monster, after seeing a lot of positive reviews online.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find any specific GX related reviews and only AFTER placing my order (currently in transit), did I have a member of another GX group inform me that he tried an idash Super Gauge on a 2017 GX460, only to have the majority of the functions not work. Specifically, transmission temperature, engine temperature, etc..

I know I've seen the idash mentioned on here briefly before, and would like to know if anyone is running one on a GX460 with good results. I'm hoping the issue mentioned earlier is either user related or a simple firmware fix, as I'd prefer not to take a a hit on a restocking fee.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone, on my last post, I had mentioned that I had requested an RMA from Banks Power, that afternoon Banks Tech-support called asking me to test a beta firmware that they were hopeful it would resolve the problem described above. I tried it and thought it didn’t completely fix the bug, I can report that the iDash Pro is now reading trans-fluid-temps that are spot-on with my XTool D7W scan tool and with the Torque Pro app. However, there is still a bug with the software that they are working on. At soon as my transmission reaches 190°F, the iDash throws an error (-2.0K) for transmission temp, and the instant the temp falls below 190°F, the iDash goes back to displaying correct temperature readings.

So, today I got another call from Steven at Banks, he said that the issue reported has been elevated and that they will continue to find a solution. He also mentioned that the fix will be included on the next scheduled firmware update which is scheduled to be released at the beginning of June. Hopefully they will find a fix for this sooner rather than later.

Update: today I tested beta firmware 1.06 from Banks and I’m happy to report that they have fixed the problem with the iDash and Toyota/Lexus vehicles. They should be releasing the official firmware update within a few days.
I'm seeing the same from my end. I tried Beta 1.05.05 first and temp was way off, showing single digits. Then 1.05.06 read correctly until 190 F as you mentioned. This new 1.06 seems much better now.

They also updated the brightness settings for the screen and buttons. Now you can set the brightness of the buttons and screen separately from one another and set the buttons to auto shut off after a few seconds. The button brightness was too much at night previously.

I'm hopeful that they figure out what exactly "Engine Oil Temperature" is actually pulling from and add Torque Converter temperature as well. (Not that T/C Temp is necessarily required, but it'd be nice to have considering the other devices on the market read it).

All things considered, I've been pleased with how willing the folks at Banks have been to get updates out to us to get these working. I know a lot of other companies that would have shrugged their shoulders.
